Dr. Abyan Bashir
Dr. Abyan Bashir is the founder of Let’s Talk Healing, a mental health and ABA services agency dedicated to providing culturally responsive care for immigrant and BIPOC communities. She earned her doctorate in psychology in 2022, specializing in trauma neurology, complex trauma, and human development, and brings over a decade of clinical and community-based experience to her work.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Bashir founded Bridge and Bloom, a nonprofit organization devoted to creating a world where everyone has the opportunity to flourish. Its mission is to offer safe, equitable, and culturally grounded resources and education that remove barriers and open doors to opportunity. Bridge and Bloom focuses on enhancing the mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of communities that have been historically underserved.
Driven by a deep passion for equity in mental health, Dr. Bashir also launched Let’s Talk Therapy, a Snapchat channel aimed at reducing stigma and expanding access to mental health information for underserved communities. Her doctoral research examined mental health service utilization among 1.5-generation Somali Americans in Minnesota, providing valuable insight into the systemic barriers many face when seeking care.
Through her clinical work, Dr. Bashir witnessed the urgent need for services that reflect the cultural realities and lived experiences of the communities they serve. This realization inspired the creation of Let’s Talk Healing, which provides compassionate mental health support for adults and ABA services for children with developmental disabilities.
Rooted in her experience growing up in a large Somali family, Dr. Bashir’s work reflects a deep commitment to social justice, healing generational trauma, and rebuilding trust in mental health systems. Her approach is guided by empathy, cultural humility, and an unwavering belief in the power of collective healing.
